  • 8:00 am – Noon both days Goals of This Course: This course seeks to convey a comprehensive foundation of knowledge about the AR-15 rifle such that the owner gains complete confidence in their ability to safely operate and maintain this firearm.  To gain this level of comfort the student will learn in a classroom setting a brief history of its development, its design and operating principles, ammunition design and types, basic ballistics and calibers, maintenance, and optics and accessories.
    The student will leave knowing how to zero their weapon, a firm foundation of basic marksmanship concepts and confidence to hit targets from the bench rest and standing positions.  A Rifle Shooting handbook is included in the course as well as a course completion certificate. Who Should Take This Class: Students not yet AR-15 owners, new AR-15 owners, or those who have never had a formal introduction to the AR-15 – or formal training in rifle marksmanship, will benefit from this course. This course consists of two four-hour sessions on consecutive weekend mornings.  It includes classroom and range time.  Students are asked to bring their own rifle and 50-100 rounds of ammunition.   • 6:00-7:30 pm This is course intended for individuals who have never fired a handgun but are interested in learning. The event will be taught by experienced and certified instructors. This is NOT a complete firearms training class. Do not bring your firearm, guns are provided.  This is not a class to go over your gun but an introduction to shooting and safety. Class is available to students 12 and older.  Age 12-18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Classroom portion includes:
    • Firearm Safety
    • Shooting Range Rules and Etiquette
    • Basic Operation of a Semi-Automatic Handgun
    • Marksmanship Fundamentals:
    1. Proper Grip
    2. Stance
    3. Sight Alignment and Sight Picture
    4. Trigger Control and Follow Through
    5. Master Eye Exercise
    Range Time:
    • Hands on Action and Operation of a Handgun
    • Dry-Firing
    • Live-Firing
    Cost: $30* Class Size: 20 *Complete an NSSF online survey after your class to receive a $25 range reward voucher!   REGISTRATION: Please provide the full legal names of all additional persons you are registering for in the "Notes" area.
